Here’s a neat little footprint to find out where the most prolific content marketers are landing their guest posts.

seo intext:”author name” inurl:author

In this footprint, SEO is the keyword. Swap out “Author Name” with your favorite author. And Google is only going to give us results with the word “author” in the URL.

Here’s some results I got using this footprint:

Danny Sullivan: 4,260 results
Barry Schwartz: 8,220 results
Larry Kim: 1,250 results
Neil Patel: 9,350 results
Ann Smarty: 587 results

Is it a good idea to go for the biggest publications first?
It might be wise establishing yourself by contributing to smaller niche sites and working your way up to larger sites like SEJ and Entrepreneur.
